Shipped to U.S. in pup drug plot
A VENEZUELAN veterinarian accused of implanting heroin in puppies has been extradited to New York to face charges, the Daily News has learned.
Vicious vet Andres Lopez Elorza was flown from Spain to the U.S. on Monday, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Authorities have said Elorza implanted liquid heroin in puppies’ bellies. It was part of a larger multi-defendant trafficking scheme to get drugs into America in all sorts of ways, they said.
Elorza was arrested in Spain in 2013 on the charges and re-arrested in 2015. He had been in Spanish custody since 2015.
Elorza is expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on Tuesday on an indictment.
