Vow for $8M Koons work hot air: suit

- Victoria Bekiempis

A MANHATTAN art gallery has been hit with a lawsuit — the second in eight days — for allegedly failing to deliver a multimilliondollar Jeff Koons sculpture.

Joel Silver, producer of the “Lethal Weapons” films, bought an $8 million piece by the celebrated artist from Gagosian gallery in February 2014 — but claims he never got it.

According to a Manhattan Supreme Court suit filed last Friday, Silver put down $3.2 million, and Gagosian said Koons’ “Balloon Venus” (photo) would be finished about June 2017.

But in January 2017, Gagosian said the estimated completion would be delayed until July 2019.

Silver asked for a refund, but Gagosian refused and warned Silver he wouldn’t get his money back, or the sculpture, unless he “agreed to continue making payments” on a revised schedule.

Silver ultimately agreed to pay $1.6 million by April 20.

On April 19, hedge funder Steven Tananbaum sued both Gagosian and Koons, alleging they were in a Ponzi-like scheme to cheat art collectors.
