Kids on the mend after death blaze
TWO CHILDREN burned in a raging Queens house fire that killed their mother and greatgrandparents are expected to survive, a family member said.
The 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son of Harleen Maggo (inset) were inside their Queens Village home when the blaze tore through the structure Saturday night.
“They lost their mother, and they don’t even know yet,” said Maggo’s cousin, Esah Kareer, who was with the children Monday at Nassau University Medical Center.
“She’s stable right now,” she said of Maggo’s daughter, who, along with her brother, was rescued by firefighters.
“And the little one is going to be discharged in a few minutes.”
“It’s a big tragedy,” said Ranjit Kaur, another relative. “I’ve never seen a big fire like this.”
Firefighters are still investigating the origin and cause of the blaze that killed Maggo, 32, and her grandparents, who were in their 80s.
