No joy of six for Jets

- BY MANISH MEHTA

The Jets still aren’t getting much respect from Vegas oddsmakers.

Despite a litany of freeagent additions and Sam Darnold’s arrival, only the Browns and Cardinals have a worse over/under win total projection than the Jets’ six, according to Westgate SuperBook.

The Giants aren’t much better at 6.5.

Vegas professionals evidently aren’t swayed by the supposed tension inside the gates of The Evil Empire. Tom Brady and Gronk might hate Bill Belichick (and vice versa) these days, but the Westgate SuperBook still believes that the Patriots will have the most wins in the NFL in 2018.

The Hoodie & Co. have the highest over/under win total for this upcoming season: 11 games.

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles and Steelers are tied for second at 10.5. The 49ers’ late-season surge with Jimmy Garoppolo prompted a 2018 over/under of nine.

ROAD TRIP: The Jets are taking their show on the road this summer.

Gang Green will join the Washington football team in Richmond, Virginia from Aug. 12-14 for three days of joint practices, the team announced Tuesday. The Jets face Washington in a preseason game on Thursday, Aug. 16 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland. That contest will be broadcast on ESPN.

The Jets last held joint practices in 2005 with the Giants at SUNY Albany.

“It will be a nice change of pace for our players to face another team,” head coach Todd Bowles said in a statement. “We’d like to thank (Washington) for having us. Hopefully, we can help each other prepare for the upcoming regular season.”

Washington has been one of the leaders of the recent jointpractice movement. The team faced off in sessions with the Patriots in 2014 and the Texans in 2015.

The practices will be open to fans free of charge. Times and other details will be announced at a later date.
