Wall collapse clears out 4 bldgs.

- Thomas Tracy

THIRTY-TWO apartments were evacuated from four buildings in Brooklyn on Wednesday after a parapet wall from one of the structures came crashing down on the sidewalk below, authorities said.

First responders were called to Church Ave. near Nostrand Ave. in East Flatbush about 2 p.m. after the lip of 2831 Church Ave. fell away from the building, taking a store sign with it.

A woman caught in the crash suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, an FDNY spokesman said.

Fearing that the collapse left the neighboring buildings unstable, the city Department of Buildings evacuated them and closed off Church Ave. between Nostrand and Ocean Aves. to traffic.

An inspection of the four buildings continued Wednesday evening, officials said.
