Tougher rap for suspect in rabbi bashing
A BROOKLYN grand jury upgraded charges against a man for attacking a rabbi who gave him a friendly greeting, the Daily News has learned.
Rabbi Menachem Moskowitz waved at James Vincent on April 21 on a Crown Heights street when the senseless attack happened. Vincent, 40, beat and choked Moskowitz while shouting anti-Semitic slurs, according to the criminal complaint.
“You f---king Jew, you Jews took my house and my mortgage,” said Vincent, according to the criminal complaint. The 52-year-old father of nine was left with a black eye and fractured ribs. Vincent was hit with hate crime charges that were upgraded by the grand jury.
A Brooklyn judge set bail at $25,000 after his criminal court arraignment April 27. Vincent is to be arraigned on the upgraded hatecrime charges on May 23.
