CC happy to cede spotlight to Yank kids

- BY AMARA GRAUTSKI and PETER BOTTE

OBombersn a night when the Baby stood out, a 37-year-old CC Sabathia proved he still has what it takes with his cutter and changeup. The veteran lefthander, who’s only allowed one earned run in four starts since returning from a right hip injury, lowered his ERA to 1.39 – the best of any Yankee starter.

But Sabathia was “1,000 percent” excited to see Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar take the spotlight on Friday, saying it “brings everybody back” to his first home run or strikeout.

They’re part of a seemingly unstoppable Yankee team that the rest of the league needs to watch out for, and Sabathia believes they can still get better – a potentially scary prospect.

“Not for me,” Sabathia said. “But for everybody else, it should be.” Montgomery is 2-0 with a 3.62 ERA in six starts this season.
