One dead, one hurt in B’klyn shoot

The riders start on Church St. in Tribeca and head up Sixth Ave. to Central Park. They take Adam Clayton Boulevard toward the Bronx- bound Madison Ave. Bridge to the Third Ave. Bridge, to the southbound lanes of the Harlem River Drive and FDR down to 63rd St. The Manhattan-bound upper level of the Ed Koch/Queensboro is closed 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., then other streets including 21St St., 31St Ave. and Vernon Boulevard. The Brooklyn-bound Pulaski Bridge is closed 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also Kent Ave., Flushing Ave. and the westbound BQE from Columbia St. to the Verrazano, whose Staten Island-bound lower level is closed 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The upper level is open at all times. Bay St. and Hyland Blvd. will be affected on the island. All times are approximat­e.

Sunday also has a Broadway street fair 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on northbound lanes from 86th to 93rd Sts., and despite the date, there’s a Cinco de Mayo Parade 1 to 3 p.m. on Central Park West, 97th to 106th Sts.

Brooklyn’s Court St. has a fair from Union to Ninth Sts. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. TWO MEN were shot in Brooklyn — one fatally — when a fight between two groups exploded in violence, police said.

The unidentifi­ed victims, both 19, were struck about 6:40 p.m. after rival factions clashed along Mother Gaston Blvd. near Hegeman Ave. in Brownsvill­e. The man who died was discovered lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the torso. The other victim had a graze wound to the back, police said.

The survivor was rushed to Brookdale Hospital with non-life-threatenin­g injuries. Sources said he was not cooperatin­g with detectives.

Nearby residents said the incident appeared to be gang-related.

The shooting prompted POLICE HAVE arrested a 16-year-old in the slaying of a man repeatedly stabbed in the thigh during a fight over money in the Bronx.

Jeremiah Melendez was charged Friday with second-degree murder in the vicious attack on Ronnie Gardner, 28, on Sedgwick Ave. near W. 197 St. April 13, police said.

According to the victim’s fiance, Gardner was on his way to “give some money to people to pour into the street screaming and crying.

One man drove up to the crime scene later in the night and jumped out of his car sobbing. “They took my f---ing brother! They took my brother!” he yelled, before getting back in his car and driving away.

There were no arrests. somebody that he owed,” when he was killed.

Photos of four suspects were released April 28. Melendez was seen in a surveillan­ce photo, according to cops.

Police sources said Melendez is believed to have stabbed the victim, while three other men allegedly were part of an initial bottlethro­wing assault.
