Chapo bummed by treks out to B’klyn

- Andrew Keshner and Leonard Greene

THE MAN accused of being the world’s most notorious drug kingpin is unhappy with his commute.

Lawyers for Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman have asked for a change of venue because they said the motorcade that takes him from the Manhattan Correctional Center to a Brooklyn federal courtroom might prejudice potential jurors.

“Mr. Guzman has now made seven court appearances, each directly exposing countless of New Yorkers and potential jurors to this spectacle and inconveniencing thousands more by the traffic disruptions created,” the motion said. The lawyers asked the court to move the trial to Manhattan or to another jurisdiction where a motorcade would not be needed.

Guzman, 61, has pleaded not guilty to charges that his cartel oversaw a campaign of murders and kidnappings to uphold his Mexican drug empire. He was extradited from Mexico in January 2017 and his trial is set for September.
