Harvey done talking Mets & memories

- BY ZACHARY RIPPLE

MATT HARVEY is done playing for, and talking about, the Mets.

The one-time Dark Knight of Gotham, who will make his first start for the Reds on Friday after being traded to Cincinnati for catcher Devin Mesoraco, won’t be getting nostalgic about his time in Flushing either. “There’s a lot of good memories, there’s a lot of bad memories,” Harvey told reporters Friday. “After today, I would like to not talk about my past experiences with the Mets. “I’d like to move forward with my new organization and do everything I can to help them. But overall, there was a lot of good times. I have a lot of good friends on that team and will for a long time.” It remains to be seen how quickly Harvey can turns things around, or if he ever can. After two seasons battling a shoulder injury and difficulties both on and off the field, Harvey struggled to a 7.00 ERA in 27 innings for the Mets this season and was eventually demoted to the bullpen. “It’s been kind of a roller coaster, I’d say — battling from injuries and trying to get back to where I wanted to be and where I knew I can be,” Harvey said. “I wasn’t able to do that and pretty much felt like I let the team down, so it was tough. It was really tough mentally at times. As much work as I put into trying to get back to where I know I can be, I was just not having that success doing that. “When you’re out there and you’ve struggled and you want to help a winning team, a good team,” he said, “you put a lot of pressure on that. I think I might have over-pressured myself.”
