3 HOW FAR WILL ’ZO GO?

-

Honestly, I might be more curious about third-round pick Lorenzo Carter, 22, the Georgia outside linebacker, than anyone on the field the next two days. Scouts have raved to me since the Giants picked him about how he could be their most underrated pick of the draft, and GM Dave Gettleman clearly felt that way, saying he was anxious to trade up into the second round for Carter before remaining patient and getting him at 66th overall at the top of the third. I always thought it made sense this offseason to add a versatile, specimen type of linebacker for creative new defensive coordinator James Bettcher to groom and unleash (like Alabama’s Rashaan Evans, who went 22nd overall to the Titans). Carter, a former five-star recruit, at 6-5, 250 pounds running a 4.5 40-yard dash, could be one of the biggest gamechangers on a defense that floundered in 2017. Do not sleep on him.
