Parole judge takes plea in lawyer punch
THE DISGRACED former state parole judge who sucker punched a Legal Aid lawyer at a party pleaded guilty to harassment Friday.
Robert Beltrani, 55, admitted he knocked out attorney Sam Roberts on W. 18th St. on Oct. 20, 2016.
The ex-jurist was visibly drunk and cold-cocked Roberts as the public defender was walking away, sources told the Daily News.
As Roberts lay on the sidewalk unconscious, a wobbly 260-pound Beltrani tumbled on top of him.
Roberts was treated for injuries including a separated shoulder and black eye.
Beltrani had to take an angermanagement course and do 10 days of community service to see his assault conviction wiped.
After completing the terms of his deal, a Manhattan Criminal Court judge allowed him to cop to the lesser charge, a violation.
Beltrani, who heard parole matters at Rikers Island, was fired by the Department of Correction and Community Supervision on Oct. 31 partly “as a result of serious off-duty conduct.”
