LAU’ & ORDER

-

Kyle Lauletta is not ready to declare himself the Giants quarterback of the future just yet.

While the selection of the Richmond quarterback in the fourthround raised some eyebrows about becoming Eli Manning’s successor, Lauletta does not see it that way.

“It’s Eli Manning’s team,” he said Friday at Giants rookie mini-camp. “His success and his resume speaks for itself and I do think he has some years left. How many years? We’ll just have to wait and see, but like I said, I’m just going to do everything I can.”

The 22-year-old quarterback will be competing with Davis Webb, whom the Giants selected in the third round of last year’s draft, to become Manning’s backup and potential heir.

While Lauletta said he wants to earn the backup spot, he stopped short of calling it a competition with Webb.

“We’re all in the same boat learning a new offense so we’ll definitely be close and be friends and help each other out as best as we can,” Lauletta said.
