THE NEXT-DOOR neighbor of a murdered Brooklyn mom was found fatally shot — and cops are looking into whether the two deaths are linked, police said.

Basil Gray, 54, was discovered shot in the head in a fifth-floor Bushwick Houses apartment on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. The home was next to the apartment where police found Ana Delvalle, 62, slain Friday night. Gray’s family found his body and called police.

“They did not hear from him since Thursday evening. This was unusual,” said NYPD Deputy Chief Michael Kemper.

When they opened his door, Gray’s relatives found his lifeless body on the floor, police said.

“My brother is dead,” a stunned woman said as police ushered family away from the scene Sunday evening.

Police suspect Gray may have been killed the same day as Delvalle, and detectives found “similar” forensic evidence in both apartments, Kemper said.

Cops were still sorting out a motive for the slayings, though they found money missing from at least one of the victims, Kemper said.

Detectives think Gray may have gone to check on Delvalle after hearing a commotion and come upon her killer, police sources said.Delvalle’s daughter found her mother’s body in her Moore St. apartment just after 6:45 p.m. Friday.

Her hands were bound, and she had been shot several times in the head with a .380-caliber gun, cops said. Police sources said the crime scene suggested the killing was personal, and the murderer was likely someone Delvalle knew.

There was no sign of a forced entry, and the apartment wasn’t ransacked.
