Trail hikers find body of a sailor

THE BODY of a sailor who went missing a week ago during a hike at Olympic National Forest has been discovered in Washington State, officials said Sunday.

Three hikers found the remains believed to be those of Jeremiah Adams (photo) in an embankment, police told news channel KOMO.

Adams, 24, was last seen May 4 when he went for a solo hike in the forest. He failed to show up for a hike with a group of friends the following day, and didn’t report for duty on Monday.

He was an electricia­n’s mate nuclear power 2nd class on the USS Nimitz, based not far from the forest in Bremerton, according to the Navy Times.The Oswego, Ill., native was an avid hiker who joined the Navy in 2013, his mother told the Beacon News.
