HONORING GRETCHEN

On Mother’s Day Sunday, the Yankees made a $10,000 donation to the ALS Therapy Development Institute in memory of Gretchen Piscotty, the mom of Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty who died last week at 55 after a battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Aaron Boone presented Oakland manager Bob Melvin with the check in a pregame ceremony. Piscotty is currently on the bereavement list. Donations can be made at www.youcaring.org/ piscotty.
