AG hopefuls backfill-in
ALBANY — Acting state Attorney General Barbara Underwood has growing support for her to stay on the job through the end of the year — even from some who’ve applied for her gig.
Of the 16 — not including Underwood — who submitted applications to be appointed to the post vacated by disgraced Attorney General Eric Schneiderman by the state Legislature, four believe Underwood should stay on.
Two pulled out before the interviews were to begin Tuesday.
Two others — former Rep. Elizabeth Holtzman and Lloyd Constantine, a former top aide to disgraced Gov. Eliot Spitzer — wrote in their application letters that Underwood should be the choice, but they would want the temporary job if she’s not chosen.
