Feds enter probe of gun detective
THE BRONX detective under investigation for selling guns while on company time will be the subject of a compliance review, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Monday.
The Daily News reported Monday that Detective Lionel Holman, who is assigned to the Bronx district attorney’s office, is under investigation by both the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau and the Department of Investigation.
Holman, who joined the NYPD in 2000, has a federal license to sell firearms but is prohibited by department rules from doing business in the five boroughs. Sources said, though, that investigators have been told Holman does carry out business in the Bronx while working.
Among his clients are fellow police officers, including supervisors, sources said.
Police Commissioner James O’Neill, citing the ongoing investigation, had no comment Monday, nor did Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark.
