Cops eyed as reservoir horndogs
A SERGEANT AND a lieutenant in the police force that watches over the city’s water supply are under scrutiny following sexual harassment allegations filed by several female officers, the Daily News has learned.
Lt. Hector Reyes and Sgt. Aubrey Zephyr were transferred from the Department of Environmental Protection Police’s 7th Precinct in the Bronx and are facing disciplinary charges in connection with the allegations, sources said.
“We take all sexual harassment complaints seriously, and are conducting a full investigation into these cases,” a DEP spokesman said in an email.
Reyes and Zephyr were moved to the 6th Precinct command in Valhalla, Westchester County. The transfer has angered some female cops in the department.
“They (female officers) are disgusted that these guys were just shifted somewhere else to be another woman’s problem rather than fired,” a source said.
The nature of the alleged harassment was not immediately clear. The spokesman declined to specify the allegations.
DEP police officers have the responsibility of patrolling the city’s upstate reservoirs and protecting the city’s water supply.
Zephyr and Reyes could not be reached for comment. The union which represents DEP police did not return calls and emails.
