Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas, will not attend his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry. This news ends a week of controversy over the 73-year-old’s cooperation with a photographer to sell staged pictures of himself to tabloids.

“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” Markle (r.) said in a statement released by Kensington Palace Thursday.
