Gal pal shock at Bx. murder

- BY ESHA RAY and THOMAS TRACY

THE GIRLFRIEND of a 24-year-old man shot dead in the Bronx stood stonefaced Thursday outside her love’s home, too stunned to grasp the specifics of the cold-blooded killing.

“Honestly, I don’t know what happened,” the young woman, who declined to give her name, said as she looked at a makeshift memorial for Charles (Stef) Powell. “I just know that he got shot. That’s all I know.”

Powell (photo) was shot in the head and leg outside an apartment building on Clay Ave. near E. 168th St. in Concourse Village at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Medics rushed him to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The doomed man was just a few steps from his apartment building when he was shot, cops said.

On Thursday, friends set up hundreds of candles and left notes on cardboard in a makeshift memorial outside his building. “Sleep in peace ... see you soon,” one mourner wrote.

At least five shell casings were found on the scene.

Witnesses said three people were seen running from the scene, but no arrests were made, cops said.
