Tributes to Diana on big day

- Nicole Bitette

THE LATE Princess Diana was a part of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s day in spirit.

Prince Harry honored his late mother, who died tragically in a car crash in 1997, in a number of ways — including making sure her family members were still a part of the big day.

Diana’s three siblings, Earl Charles Spencer, 53, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 63, and Lady Jane Fellowes, 61, were all in attendance, and Jane, who spoke at Diana’s funeral, gave the only speech of the day during the wedding.

Elton John, a close friend of Diana’s, was in attendance and performed for the guests at the lunchtime reception.

Markle’s bouquet was handpicked by Harry and filled with forget-me-not flowers, which were Princess Diana’s favorite.

And both Harry and Meghan asked guests to make donations in lieu of wedding gifts. Several of the charities chosen were those that Diana supported.
