Peace fails, so he pulls out a piece
A HARLEM gunman looking to end a beef with a neighborhood foe ended up shooting his rival and one of the man’s pals when the attempt at a peaceful reconciliation went south, police said Saturday.
Startling surveillance footage released by cops shows the hooded gunman saunter up to a group of men on W. 116th St. near Malcolm X Blvd. to address his 25-year-old rival in an attempt to settle a past dispute.
As the two hashed out their differences, about 10 of the rival’s friends begin to encircle the gunman.
The assailant steps back from the hostile horde, draws a pistol from his hoodie pocket and fires off two shots into the crowd, the video shows.
The gunman hits his foe in the stomach, cops said. A 19-year-old man was also shot in the left foot.
Medics rushed both victims to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they were recovering Saturday.
Cops described the shooter as black, about 20 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build.
He was last seen wearing gray sneakers, dark pants and a black Jordan hooded sweatshirt, cops said.
Anyone with information regarding the shooter’s identity is asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
