Fort Lee: the sixth borough
What can be said about Fort Lee that hasn’t been said before? Diverse culture, ongoing development, a rich history and an iconic bridge—Fort Lee is often considered the “sixth borough” of NYC—with good reason.
The community has seen a major resurgence in its downtown scene. Recent real estate additions include The Modern, luxury residential towers that have single-handedly changed the skyline of New Jersey’s Gold Coast, and the Hudson Lights complex, the town’s contemporary centerpiece that features the iPic Theater and its in-theater restaurant, City Perch Kitchen & Bar, luxury residentials, and upscale retail stores & restaurants. The freshly refurbished Main Street stroll keeps this rising cosmopolitan city grounded with its charismatic downhome dining spots, coffee shops, boutiques and services.
New Jersey is often credited as the birthplace of the American Film Industry. In 2019, Fort Lee will welcome the Barrymore Film Center, mere yards from where the first homes of Fox and Universal Studios stood. The 260 seat theater and 2,500 square-foot museum—named for former Fort Lee resident and one of the greats of early stage and screen, John Barrymore— will draw in new visitors and residents, and therefore support our local commerce with an influx of business.
Come to Fort Lee, the Gateway to New Jersey and so much more. And don’t forget, we host the most incredible summer concerts in the park and the most impressive and festive holiday tree-lighting around, so come see us and experience the cultural, energetic and metropolitan feel of the city, without the congestion.
— Mark Sokolich, Mayor, Borough of Fort Lee
