The News skews views on Jews

-

Miami: Well, what is there left to say? The cover of your newspaper last week (“Daddy’s Little Ghoul,” May 15) was an absolute disgrace. It boggles the mind once again, how when the terrorist organization Hamas plans an invasion of Israel; arrive by the tens of thousands “unarmed” with rocket launchers, knives, burning kites with swastikas, slingshots, pipe bombs and Molotov cocktails, after forcibly rounding up men, women and children from all over — including hospitals — with the promise of “tearing the hearts out of the Jews,” and then storm the border with Israel, you still manage to blame Israelis for defending themselves.

It is a perverse sickness that those of us who have tried to hang on to reading your paper will no longer tolerate. How can you explain your deranged obsession with hating Israel and blaming them for defending themselves as every sovereign nation has the obligation to do?

I guess my only choice would be to challenge you: Would you be willing to release your home address to those same “unarmed” Hamas terrorists who promise to “tear the hearts out” of you and your family and have you not defend yourself? Carrie Okay

Blaming the Jews

Water Valley, Miss.: Opening up your eyes to the truth will be hard for your liberal newspaper, but I am going to try. Trying to blame Trump or the Republicans or even Ivanka for the rioting at the border is like blaming the Jews for the Holocaust. But wait, your anti-Semitic-leaning newspaper would probably be in line with that. Anyway, the rioting at the border during the opening ceremony for the American Embassy in Jerusalem was totally due to the hatred the Palestinians have toward the Jews. They had the rioting planned for weeks ahead of the opening ceremony and they knew that many of them would be killed. This is what they wanted and what they received. Hopefully, someday your paper will awaken to the truth. I don’t see this happening anytime soon, but at least a person can hope.

Please speak English

Ridge, L.I.: While I don’t agree with the way Aaron Schlossberg went about his tirade over people speaking Spanish, this is the United States of America. Our official language is English. It’s rude, impolite and insulting to hear Spanish being spoken while you are shopping, at a restaurant, etc. What happened to the rule? It’s not right and it should be addressed by business owners to their employees. Dennis Shivers

All tongues welcome

Whiting, Ind.: Being a fourth-generation American, I can only pity Schlossberg. This man is bordering on schizophrenia. The beauty of America is that we are free to speak any language we want and ofttimes people prefer to not let anyone else, like snoops, in our conversations. I am proud to say that I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I suspect that Sloshie might speak Jewish, so what, this is America. Tony Barreda

In any language

Manhattan: Your headline of May 17 was “¡Jódete, idiota!” Was that the familiar form or the polite form? Daniel Jean Lipsman

Money talks

Princeton Junction, N.J.: I see that Aaron Schlossberg’s law firm offers services in Spanish. Beside being an idiot, he is a hypocrite. Don’t be like Aaron.

Speaking of lawyers

Yonkers: As the saying goes “Anyone who represents themselves has a fool for a lawyer.” The exception would be, anyone who has Rudy Giuliani representing them has a fool for a lawyer.

Crossing two ‘lines’

Huntington Station, L.I.: As a Daily News reader for the good part of 50 years, I feel I have the authority to speak on two subjects: the comics and the quality of the paper. First of all, please listen to your readers — “Between the Lines” is awful. I agree with Voicer Bill Barrett who said not only is it not funny, clever or amusing, it has, at times, been downright crude. I wrote in the past when a feminine hygiene product was used. Not the time or the place. Next, I also agree with Voicers who said that if Mort Zuckerman were still in charge, certain things would not fly. I am, by no means, a supporter of Donald Trump, but the headline declaring that Trump called immigrants animals could not be more misleading. This is Yellow Journalism 101. Shame on you for distorting the facts. You led your readership to believe that Trump was calling all immigrants “animals.” He was referring to the MS-13 gang members and, in a very rare instance, I agree with the President. In my town, this gang is a genuine threat. I do not want to see any of those members allowed in our country. Be careful, Daily News, you are treading in dangerous waters here.

Nancy Kennedy Manhattan: I’d like to rebut PBA President and Voicer Pat Lynch’s provably false letter. For instance, Lynch has always resisted cameras filming police, and NYC is still refusing to put any dashcams in their huge fleet. I wonder why. In fact, no cameras helps criminals, who could be captured on dashcams and body cams committing crimes or even lying that police beat them up. We adults know there’s only one reason Lynch wants no cameras on cops. As some activist once yelled to Lynch on TV, “When you protect bad cops, you hurt good cops!”

Close up shop

Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.: Is the Daily News serious with your May 17 “Mueller’s good work” editorial? Maybe I am hard of reading but where do you cite one actual shred of evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election? Is the best you can come up with is years-old charges against Manafort, Flynn and some nobody George Papawhoever? After an entire year of what the majority of rational nonbiased Americans see as a witch hunt, not to mention a colossal waste of taxpayers’ money, this sham of an “investigation” needs to be ended. This was all started by butt hurt and disgraced former FBI Director Jim Comey at the behest of failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her apologists. Enough is enough already; it’s time to move on.

Michael P. Devine

Keep it going

Laguna Beach, Calif.: President Trump and I both want to congratulate special counsel Robert Mueller on the first anniversary of his historic investigation. Trump claims it is the biggest witch hunt in American history. I say it is American justice at its finest. I clearly understand why the President wants to bury what he believes is more than a pebble in his shoe. As of now, the Mueller team has indicted 19 individuals and three business entities. Heading into its second year, there is no sense the investigation is anywhere near finished and, frankly, that is as it should be. I like the fact the special counsel continues to quietly go about his business despite all the public distractions Trump and his advisers throw at him daily. In the end, no matter when that occurs, I have faith the American people will be well served. Too bad the President of the United States doesn’t believe that. Denny Freidenrich

Here they come

Brooklyn: With Mayor de Blasio opening safe injection sites in the city I bet the homeless problem increases to 75,000-plus within the first year of opening. Every drug addict in the other 49 states will come a-calling. Think about it, they would get arrested in any other state but not here in NYC. No, we’re going to show them how it’s done. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those states sent busloads of addicts, just to get rid of them. That’s my opinion of this idea. Now if the other 49 states did the same thing then we could have a different outcome.

Joe Fusco

The truth, in black and white

Manhattan: Bravo to Seth Barron for setting the record straight re the non-racial angle of marijuana arrests (“Marijuana arrests are not racist,” Op-Ed, May 18). This piece should be repeated often when the “flurry of news articles, campaign statements and press conferences” try to portray the arrests as racist. the theme should also be carried out whenever there is a mention of “mass incarceration” as statistics there show similar findings.
