Morison’s screen debut came in the 1939 film “Persons in Hiding.” She quickly bolstered her resume with roles in movies like “The Song of Bernadette,” “Are Husbands Necessary?” “Without Love” and the Sherlock Holmes film “Dressed to Kill.”

But her most famous role came in 1948, when she abandoned the silver screen for Broadway to play movie star Lilli Vanessi (aka the eponymous Katherine) in the Cole Porter musical “Kiss Me, Kate,” based on Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.”

Morison also starred with Yul Brynner in “The King and I” on stage in 1954, and had a guest role on a 1989 episode of the sitcom “Cheers.”

The actress never married and had no children. FORMER U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday warned “true civil discourse” is under threat around the world while speaking to graduates at NYU Abu Dhabi, an event the school blocked journalists from filming.

While obliquely criticizing President Trump, Kerry did not mention the 2015 Iran nuclear deal he secured, an accord Trump has pulled America out of. It likely was courtesy to his hosts in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, which long opposed the deal. AN NYPD traffic enforcement agent is accused of pulling a knife on one of her neighbors, police said Sunday.

Elreda Woods, 42, was busted Sunday afternoon in the Bronx’s 47th Precinct on charges of weapon possession, menacing and disorderly conduct. Police said Woods’ neighbor accused her of pulling out a pocket knife during an argument.

Woods, who received a desk appearance ticket, was suspended without pay, cops said.
