Romaine from Yuma, Ariz. — in all of its chopped, bagged, fresh and whole-hearted varieties — had been at the center of an outbreak that began in April affecting 172 people in 32 states, one of whom died. The threat was neutralized when romaine growing shifted to California over the past two months.
