Gov ‘killing’ city on subways: Nix
GOV. CUOMO’S primary challenger Cynthia Nixon accused the governor of “passing the buck” on fixing the crumbling subway system, after he did not fully embrace his transit chief’s turnaround plan. “The governor is in charge of the MT A. And if you let the MT A disintegrate to the point where it is now, you’re killing New York City,” Nixon told reporters after a campaign stop in the Bronx. “How any governor of New York State would think that was acceptable is beyond me.” NYC Transit President Andy Byford released a turnaround plan this week centered on replacing signals more quickly. Cuomo gave a lukewarm response, saying he had not yet fully reviewed it. Cuomo’s campaign spokeswoman Abbey Fas houe rs aid Nixon “should call her friend the mayor and ask why he refused to fully fund the subwayaction plan fornearlyayear.” ErinDurkin
