RETURN OF THE BIRD

-

Greg Bird is likely to rejoin the Yankees on Saturday against the Angels, Aaron Boone said.

“The plan right now is for Bird likely to be activated on Saturday,” Boone told Mike Francesa. “That’s obviously something we’re still working through, but right now I would expect assuming everything goes according to plan the next couple days that he’ll be ready to go for us on Saturday.”

Bird went 1-for-5 with an RBI single and three strikeouts for Triple-A Scranton Thursday. He produced homers for the RailRiders on Monday and Wednesday.

The 25-year-old first baseman has yet to play this season after undergoing right ankle surgery on March 27.
