Suit: School didn’t protect black pupil
A GROUP of eighth-grade bullies at a Long Island Catholic school sent racist pictures to a black classmate — including one of the boy with a gun to his head — and the school did nothing, a lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court charged Friday.
The parents of 14-year-old Devin Moore say in their suit that the vile images were sent to their son through the online gaming app, Discord, about a month ago.
One photo said, “Black People Are Not Functioning Members Of Society.” Another picture shows a noose, according to court papers.
After repeated attempts to meet with teachers at St. Mary School in East Islip, parents Ursula and Willie Moore claim “no meaningful or effective steps were immediately taken to ensure a ‘sense of safety,’” the lawsuit says.
St. Mary School did not immediately return a call for comment. THE DEATH of a Bronx toddler — whose stepfather said he fell out of a stroller — was a homicide, the city medical examiner’s office said Friday.
Messiah Allen, 3, was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, cops said. The boy was unconscious and bruised when medics picked him up at his Soundview apartment. An autopsy revealed that Messiah died of multiple blunt force injuries, the ME’s office said. Cops are questioning his stepfather and mother.
