The heart of the Angels’ order — Trout, Justin Upton, Albert Pujols and Ohtani — came up in the top of the eighth with the Yankees ahead 2-1. David Robertson started the inning, inducing a groundout from Trout before walking Upton. Pujols then lined out to short. Aaron Boone pulled Robertson, bringing in Aroldis Chapman to face Ohtani, who grounded out.
