MET GAME DAY

-

ATLANTA — New manager, new coaching staff, a whole new, reorganized medical staff and yet the Mets seem to have the same old bad luck. Hours after they placed Noah Syndergaard on the disabled list, Steven Matz left Tuesday’s game after three scoreless innings with “discomfort,” in his left, middle finger. X-rays on the Long Island lefty’s finger were negative for a broken bone, the team announced.

Then the bullpen blew a four-run lead, giving up five runs in the last three innings, including the walkoff home run to Johan Camargo to give the Braves a 7-6 win at SunTrust Park.

It was the second time in three games the Braves (32-22) have beaten the Mets (26-26) with a walkoff home run.

Camargo hit the homer off Gerson Bautista, who had been called up Monday.

Paul Sewald allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits. Jerry Blevins gave up a run on two hits in 1.2 innings work. Jacob Rhame allowed three on four hits and a walk in the eighth.

That overshadowed Asdrubal Cabrera’s big night. He hit a two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth. It was his second multi-home run game of the season and the eighth of his career.

The homer in the fifth was a big confidence boost for the Mets, who had just watched Matz walk off the mound and Paul Sewald give up two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
