Sicko sugar daddy guilty of perv attack
A MARRIED businessman who is into sexual sadism has been convicted of sexually assaulting, choking and beating a date he met on a sugar daddy website.
Sanjay Tripathy, 48, was found guilty Wednesday of criminal sex act, sex abuse, assault, strangulation and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the June 15, 2016, attack at the W Hotel in Times Square.
He faces up to 25 years in prison on the top count alone when he’s sentenced July 18.
Tripathy was ordered held without bail by Justice Erika Edwards after his conviction in Manhattan Supreme Court.
The North Carolina businessman met the 38-year-old victim on SeekingArrangement.com, where he advertised himself as a catch with $10 million in the bank.
The site matches well-off older men with attractive younger women. The victim gave a tearful account in which she described the terrifying encounter with the former IT executive.
Tripathy had said they had consensual rough sex and she accepted payment for it.
But jurors saw photos of her badly swollen and bruised face and neck, black eyes and clumps of blood in her long, blond hair.
Tripathy’s lawyer Franklin Rothman said after the verdict that the “photos that graphically depicted the extent of the beating were too much to overcome.”
Tripathy will appeal, Rothman said.
