Oh, why did I pick Jeff, Don moans
REGRETS, he’s got a few.
President Trump has once again voiced his frustration with his attorney general’s decision to recuse himself from the federal investigation into Russian election meddling.
Trump did not mince his words Wednesday, tweeting that he “wished” he had picked someone other than Jeff Sessions for the gig.
Citing Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), Trump fired off a series of tweets targeting his handpicked head of the Justice Department.
“There are lots of really good lawyers in the country, he could have picked somebody else!” Trump quoted Gowdy in a tweet.
“And I wish I did!” the President added.
Sessions recused himself from the probe last March to avoid any conflicts of interest due to his closeness to the Trump campaign. His recusal, coupled with Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump’s tweet comes a day after a bombshell New York Times report about the President asking Sessions to reverse his recusal during a conversation at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida last spring.
Mueller is reportedly investigating the exchange.
