Blaz, why aren’t you helping us?

-

PEOPLE FORCED out of their crumbling Chinatown apartment building slammed Mayor de Blasio on Friday, saying he hasn’t done anything to help them. About 100 tenants of 85 Bowery were evacuated from their homes in January after a courtordered inspection deemed the building uninhabitable. Seven tenants, who were on a hunger strike this week, and 100 protesters chanted, “De Blasio shame on you! DeBlasio come on out!” during a demonstration outside City Hall Friday. They claim their landlord, Joseph Betesh, has let the building fall apart — so he could make repairs and then charge higher rent. Betesh’s spokesman said the landlord is working “as quickly as possible.”
