Ex-gov: Nix needs more experience

GUBERNATORIAL candidate Cynthia Nixon should start her political career by running for a lower office to get experience, ex-New York Gov.DavidPatersonsaid Sunday.

“Now that you’ve converted to Catholicism, why do you have to be the pope?” he told John Catsimatidis on his Sunday AM 970 radio show. “In other words, why can’t she run for a legislative position or congressional seat where she could really learn whatgoes on?”

Nixon, a Democrat running against Gov.Cuomo, scoffed.

“Women have been told to wait their turn and stay in their lane for as long as there have been men,” she said. “So comments like these don’t faze me.”

She cited her 20 years of advocating for public school funds, as well as the President Trump era and #metoo eras.

“I’m one of thousands of women who looked around after Donald Trump and #metoo and said if we wantchangewe’llhave to domore— we’ll have to run,” she said.
