NO. 34 MEETS THE ‘DEUCE’

- Brian Niemietz

Mets ace Noah Syndergaard prepared for his return to the mound by hanging out with another big shot looking to make a comeback — “The Deuce” and #MeToo star James Franco.

They had their “eyes glued to the TV screens and were eagerly watching the (NBA) series pan out,” according to one onlooker at the Ainsworth East Village on Sunday

It was a rough day for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lost to the Golden State Warriors by 19 to go down 2-0 in their best of seven series, but Syndergaard (above left) had plenty to celebrate on Sunday. The right-handed hurler practiced throwing a baseball for the first time since the Mets placed him on the disabled list May 29 with a finger injury. He’s expected to practice again Tuesday and, if all goes according to plan, pitch against the Yankees Sunday at Citi Field.

Franco (above right) has been seen frequently in the East Village, where he’s shooting HBO’s “The Deuce,” whose second season premieres on Sept. 2. In addition to producing and acting in the critically acclaimed show about the 1970s pornography business, Franco has found himself accused of sexual misconduct by five women, including actress Ally Sheedy, in recent months. He has expressed confusion over the claims, but says that he’s holding his tongue so as to not undermine the #MeToo movement. Franco has kept a low profile since January, when the claims against him surfaced.
