White House contractor in slay-try bust
A MARYLAND man was arrested Tuesday on an attempted-murder charge when he showed up for work at the White House — where he was employed as a private contractor.
Secret Service agents nabbed Martese Edwards, 30, on an arrest warrant at a checkpoint for the complex about noon, according to a Secret Service spokesman.
Edwards was wanted for shooting a man in his hometown of Suitland, Md., on May 3, said Prince George’s County Police spokeswoman Cpl. Nicole Hubbard.
It was not clear how long Edwards had worked at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. or what job he held. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
