Teach accused of choking boys
A CITY gym teacher is accused of choking two students when a play fight took a very real turn in a Brooklyn high school Tuesday morning, cops said.
Xavier Guerrero, 32, who teaches at the Khalil Gibran International Academy in Boerum Hill, was scuffling with a teenage boy when he wrapped his hand around the youth’s throat, briefly cutting off his breathing, cops said. When a second kid jumped in, Guerrero tried to choke him, too, cops said.
Guerrero and both students — Kaid Saleh, 16, and a 14-year-old boy whose name was not released because of his age — were arrested at the Schermerhorn St. school just before noon, police said. Guerrero has taught physical education at the school since 2016, city officials said.
He is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault, while the teens were both charged with assault.
Police issued Guerrero a desk appearance ticket and released him Tuesday night. Attempts to reach him were not successful.
