HAPPY 21ST SAM!

For most young adults, turning 21 is a defining moment, one sometimes accompanied by copious amounts of legally-consumed alcohol.

Sam Darnold, though, is not a typical young adult. And thus he’s celebrated his 21st birthday, which was Tuesday, the only way he knows how.

“Playing football,” the rookie quarterback said.

When asked if he would relent for even just one drink, Darnold responded, “Probably not.”

“Probably just going to stay in and go to sleep early like I have been every single night,” he added.

Darnold’s focus is solely on football, which shouldn’t be a surprise given how he’s conducted himself since going No. 3 overall to the Jets in April. And that work ethic is already paying dividends, according to Bowles, who has seen a “more comfortable” Darnold as OTAs have progressed over the last three weeks.
