A-Rod wants to see Giant

TORONTO — A-Rod was just giving some analysis as part of a Fox broadcast. But it also sounded like he was performing his role as special adviser to Yankees GM Brian Cashman.

“I like the idea of Madison Bumgarner going to the Yankees,” A-Rod said, with the obvious caveat that the Giants may not sell — especially after they acquired veterans Evan Longoria and Andrew McCutchen in the offseason.

But if San Francisco does fall out of the NL West race, the Giants could look to infuse their weak farm system with some much-needed assets. And A-Rod figures San Fran could get a haul of 3-4 impact prospects from the Bombers in a blockbuste­r deal.

“He’s a $35 million player making only $12 million,” A-Rod said of Bumgarner, who is also signed at $12 million next season, making him a $70 million player making only $24 million.

Bumgarner, 28, made his season debut on Tuesday due to a broken left hand and allowed two runs in six innings.
