More fed cases vs. MS-13 goons

- Andrew Keshner

A BIG-TIME federal case against reputed MS-13 gang members on Long Island got larger Thursday as the feds unveiled new defendants and more charges of murder and mayhem.

The 73-count superceding indictment tacks on eight defendants and lays blame for another three murders. That brings the case’s total body count up to 15 charged murders — including a quadruple homicide at a Central Islip park and the killing of two Brentwood high school girls.

The defendants linked to those murders are “death eligible,” but prosecutors haven’t filed papers opting for capital punishment.

The new murder raps, also “death eligible,” relate to the 2016 deaths of Javier Castillo, 16, Oscar Acosta, 19, and Dewann Stacks, 34. The victims were suspected gang members, and tree limbs, machetes and baseball bats were the murder weapons of choice, prosecutors said.

Seven new defendants, all of Long Island and ranging in age from 19 to 26, were arraigned Thursday in Central Islip Federal Court and remanded. The eighth is a fugitive, a source said.
