A/C unit cited in killer blaze
THE FIRE that killed a mother and her grown son Wednesday in Brooklyn was caused by a burning portable air conditioner that was dragged into the hallway.
The blaze started in the air conditioner, and when Isaac Bloome, 36, dragged the device through the Flatbush apartment he shares with his mom, Natalie Bloome, 59, it ignited other items and materials, FDNY fire marshals concluded.
Bloome left the device, with flames shooting out, in the hallway and went back into the burning apartment, where mother and son called 911.
They did not make it out of the apartment on E. 22nd St. near Ditmas Ave.
