Judge: Cohen info not secret
A FEDERAL judge rejected President Trump’s effort Friday to keep legal arguments over certain documents seized by the FBI from Michael Cohen completely secret.
Trump’s lawyer, Joanna Hendon, had sought an unusual level of confidentiality for papers she plans to file challenging a ruling by the retired judge overseeing the review of Cohen’s documents for attorney-client privilege.
Earlier this week, the retired judge, Barbara Jones, reported that only a fraction of Cohen’s documents were privileged. Hendon disputed at least one of those designations. She hoped to explain why in a letter filed directly to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Kimba Wood.
Prosecutors opposed the move — and Wood agreed, saying the “objections should be filed publicly” except for portions that might reveal their substance.
