Pol set to admit fraud

- BY ANDREW KESHNER

EX-STATE Assembly member Pamela Harris is expected to plead guilty Tuesday in Brooklyn Federal Court, six months after her arrest on fraud charges.

The one-time Brooklyn pol was busted in January on charges of misusing roughly $60,000 in public money on expenses like vacations and her Victoria’s Secret tab. She also paid her Kohl’s bill and paid off her mortgage with the loot, prosecutors said.

Some of the ill-gotten money was meant for Hurricane Sandy disaster relief, according to authorities.

Court calendars on Monday showed Harris is expected to enter a guilty plea in Tuesday — but it’s not known what the final charges against her will be.

A spokesman for the Brooklyn U.S. attorney declined to comment, as did Joel Cohen, an attorney for Harris.

Harris is accused of taking disaster relief money intended for a nonprofit organization she ran before winning an Assembly seat in 2015 and diverting it to her own home.

The funds, approved by the City Council, were to help with Hurricane Sandy relief.

Harris’ Coney Island home wasn’t damaged in the October 2012 superstorm, officials said.

The former politician, whose office covered southern Brooklyn, resigned several months after prosecutors announced her indictment.

Her trial was slated to begin in July.

Since her resignation in April, Harris has begun to work in the catering business, according to court records.

She’s been $150,000 bond.

Harris, a former correction officer, took office in November 2015 after winning a special election. She won reelection to a full two-year term in 2016.

Her lawyers have previously pointed out none of the charges are tied to her Assembly work.

The Daily News reported in 2016 that Harris and her husband, Leon Harris, were in bankruptcy and owed more than $30,000 in back taxes. free on
