A STREET SIGN NAMED ARROYO:
Fallen EMT Yadira Arroyo’s name was immortalized in the city she loved Friday when a Bronx street was renamed in her honor.
Arroyo’s family joined Mayor de Blasio, FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro and members of EMS Station 26 as they renamed Boston Road near E. 169th St. in Morrisania in honor of the murdered first responder.
The street is home to Station 26, where Arroyo and her partner were dispatched from.
“I want all the members of 26 to know: we grieve with you still—we stand by you,” de Blasio said. “If there’s ever a definition of family, it’s the FDNY.”
“When you think about the notion of an angel, a guardian angel,” he said. “I have no doubt in my mind Yadira Arroyo was an angel who walked among us.”
The street renaming began with a plaque dedication inside Station 26.
Nigro thought that Boston Road was a fitting spot to honor the fallen first responder, whom he lovingly called “Yari.”
