Giancarlo’s first Yankee walk-off homer caps Bombers’ comeback win over Mariners

-

Giancarlo Stanton delivered in the clutch.

Stanton smashed a two-run walk-off homer to left-center, giving the Yankees a thrilling 7-5 comefrom-behind victory over the Mariners on Wednesday night in The Bronx. The Bombers have won three in a row. It was Stanton’s first walk-off homer as a member of the Yankees and fourth of his career. His 18th homer — a two-run shot — travelled 453 feet. Stanton has struggled to hit in the clutch for most of the season. That wasn’t the case on Wednesday night.

Gary Sanchez launched a 439-foot, two-run homer — his 14th of the season — to tie the game at 5-5. The Yankees had trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Aaron Judge got the Yankees within 5-2 on his RBI single with two outs in the fifth.

The Bombers then made it 5-3 in the seventh on Didi Gregorius’ sac fly, which followed Judge’s third hit of the night.

In his second career start, Jonathan Loaisiga allowed three runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out four.
