2nd swim tragedy on Long Island

A 31-year-old man was missing Monday after he went for an early morning swim with friends in Long Beach, L.I.

The man was last seen at 2 a.m. as he swam in the ocean near Long Beach Blvd., the Coast Guard said.

His two friends made it safely to shore, and alerted the Coast Guard station at Jones Beach.

Searchers kept looking for the 170-pound man during the day. He was wearing a beige swimsuit, the Coast Guard said. His name was not released.

Long Beach firefighte­rs and police, the Coast Guard and NYPD and Nassau County police were involved in the search.

Authoritie­s found the remains of a boy in the same area of Long Beach early Sunday. Authoritie­s were trying to determine if the body was that of a 10-year-old swimmer who went missing last Tuesday.
