An off-duty NYPD lieutenant was busted for drunk driving in Queens on Wednesday, police said.

Sunil Singh, 38, was arrested in Ozone Park at 1:43 a.m., cops said.

Singh was allegedly wasted when he smashed into a car at 117th St. and Rockaway Blvd.

No one was injured in the crash, but Singh soon found himself in handcuffs.

He was charged with drunk driving and refusing to take a field breath test.

His parents expressed shock at his arrest. “I thought he was working,” said his mother, who would not give her name. “What happened? This is the first I hear of this.”

“Rockaway Blvd. is right here?” she added, trying to process her son's bust. “We have no knowledge.”

“Normally he works a double shift. So I assumed that he's working,” she said.

His father was also unaware of his son's Independence Day woes.

“He lives with us. He's a police officer. He's responsible,” he said. “We're surprised.”

Singh was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court, where he is assigned. The judge who heard the case barred photography in the courtroom.

He was released on his own recognizance and his license was suspended.

The 17-year NYPD veteran was also suspended from duty.

In 2008, Singh, then a sergeant, won “Cop of the Month” for assisting in the arrest of thieves who robbed a DHL truck in Canarsie, Brooklyn.
