Byte into the hot dog contest

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest judges are in hot water because they couldn’t ketchup to Joey Chestnut.

Chestnut obliterated the competition on Wednesday, like he does every year, but his final hot dog and bun count was initially inaccurate. At first it was announced the eater nicknamed Jaws shoveled down 64 frankfurters. Minutes later, that was corrected to 74.

“I knew that I ate more than 64,” Chesnut told reporter Adam Glyn. As a result, next year in Coney Island human judges may not be able to relish in the annual dog day afternoon competition at all.
